Condition guide
Choosing the right condition gets you the right offer first time. Here's how we grade, with examples to help you pick.
Brand new
Genuinely unused — sealed or boxed and never used, with all the original packaging and accessories.
- Choose this if: it's still sealed or boxed and has never been used (e.g. an unwanted gift). Barely-used items belong under Excellent.
Excellent
Fully working and barely used. No faults and no visible damage — it looks and runs like new.
- Choose this if: you've used it a handful of times and it's spotless.
Good
Fully working with the normal signs of everyday use — light marks or fine scratches, but nothing broken and everything functions as it should.
- Choose this if: it works perfectly and just looks "used".
Poor
Still works fine, but has cosmetic damage — deep scratches, cracks, chips or paint damage. It runs as it should; it just doesn't look its best.
- Choose this if: a panel is cracked or scuffed but it powers on and works.
Faulty
Has a fault — a weak or dead battery, a motor issue, or a broken or missing part. That's fine; we still buy these.
- Choose this if: it won't switch on, won't hold charge, or something's stopped working.
One exception: we can't accept water- or liquid-damaged units (including anything that's been submerged or used to pick up liquids). Water damage is unpredictable and unsafe to refurbish — especially the battery — so please don't send these in.
A few things that affect the grade
- Battery (cordless vacuums): a genuine Dyson battery is worth more than a third-party replacement, so we ask.
- Pets & smoking (vacuums, robots, fans): homes with pets or smokers mean the item needs a much deeper clean, so we ask about that too.
Not sure which to pick?
Just choose the closest one — you don't need to get it spot on. If anything turns out different to what you described, we'll always speak to you first before anything changes.
